2020 Cassini Bordeaux Merlot

Pure, pulpy, bright and immensely drinkable this isn't the Merlot that your Dad drank.

Arnauld Cassini spent considerable time in the Loire Valley and that experience translates to a more fresh, less oak walloped style of Bordeaux. Practising biodynamic principles the wines are neither fined, nor filtered and minimal sulphur is used in an approach that best allows the fruit and the vineyard to express themselves.

This wine atypically sees no oak but extended time in cement (just under two years) that allows the wine to compose itself and allows the best expression of the fruit.

Freshness is key here with notes of tobacco leaf, ripe black plum, blackcurrant and earth. Supple tannins over a mid weight chassis with a long finish with lots of depth of fruit.
